The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has set aside a total of $355 million USD for the AFG (Assistance to Firefighters Grant) and FP&S (Fire Protection and Safety) programs. Of that amount, $319.5 million USD will be awarded to public safety organizations to help support and improve their response capabilities.
These grants can be used for a variety of resources for fire departments including:
Structural Fire PPE
USAR/Tech Rescue PPE
EMS PPE
And many other tools and resources that meet the grant requirements of helping organizations improve their response capabilities.
The application period for the Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) is now open. It opened on January 4th, 2021, and will remain open through February 12th, 2021 at 1700 ET.
